The term "3x2," indicates the joist size in inches and corresponds to 47 x 75mm in metric measurements. However, regularised timber is mechanically finished to achieve a smooth and uniform size across the length of timber, resulting in a "finished" size slightly smaller, approximately 45mm x 70mm. The size difference is negligible and in the vast majority of projects will make no difference to your project, and is standard across 47x75, 3x2 regularised timber joists.
